Entry for September 03, 2007

This photo by Tim Hilton of Ann Houston baking appeared in USA Today November 21 , 2006 in Haya El Nasser’s story, “Va. town on Slow City pace before movement began.”

Barry and I stopped on Route 221 at the Sweet Providence Farm Store amd Bakery, where we had a loaf of Ann’s delicious whole wheat bread after driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway to taste wines at Villa Appalaccia and taking in the local artists’ show at the Jacksonville Center for the Arts.

Earlier I had gone to the New Media Center to download my pictures of the Lubberland Dance Troupe’s Friday night performance before meeting Barry at 11:30 in Riner to drive to down to Floyd County for Labor Day.

Beth Macy’s article on the farm and a slide show are here.
