Entry for April 14, 2007

What a hot band and they’re local! That’s Bill Anderson on fiddle, John Hildreth on guitar, Joel Keebler on bass and Matt Livingston on mandolin, who’ll be playing tonight’s contra dance in Floyd with Chris Youngblood calling.

For a real hoot, see Andy Borowitz (email) “Imus Moves to Al-Qaeda Network Shock Jock to Anchor Three-hour Hate Block.”

Just days after his “Imus in the Morning” program was dropped by MSNBC, embattled shock jock Don Imus bounced back nicely today, landing a new show on Osama bin Laden’s fledgling Al-Qaeda TV network.

While Mr. bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda terror network has made headlines in recent years, the same cannot be said for his Al-Qaeda TV network, a perennial ratings laggard. …

Elsewhere, James Frey’s book “A Million Little Pieces” won the Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction, and also for fiction.

I just found out from re-reading an article I alreaded linked to in Mother Jones that the Republican Jewish Coalition, which Sam Fox chairs, took out a full page ad in the New York Times condemning Senator Joseph Lieberman’s (then D, CT, now I) overtures to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan during the 2000 election. Guess Lieberman is more forgiving of his “friend” than Kerry.

Have been priviledged to have an email conversation today with law professor Brian Kalt, who wrote the latest scholarly article on recess appointments I found of use in writing my article for LLRX. Tomorrow I’ll provide you with a link, my synopsis, my questions and the update he’s written for me concerning the Sam Fox appointment.
