Bush Bush Fiddles Around While New Orleans Burns (9/8/05)

I’m so mad, I’m incoherent.   You may have seen ABC Senior National Security Correspondent Martha Raddatz’s AP photo above of Dubya playing the guitar (the fiddle would be too hard).  Mark Wills gave Bush the guitar backstage after his visit to Naval Base Coronado, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, as the levees burst in New Orleans that date, the  Houston Chronicle’s Brett Coomer caught Roy Shields holding onto a light pole as he waits to be rescued for AP. Times Picayune staff photographer Kathy Anderson showed a fire burning wildly in the city.
For more photos, see the Picayne’ photo gallery. For a timeline check out dKosopedia Think Progress.. There’s extensive coverage at Slate and Salon.

Two of my favorite bloggers on Bush and this disaster are Alfred Corn and Neil Harkavy. You can read Andrei Codrescu about New Orlean’s subversive otherness in reponse to martial law or listen to him on NPR.

Charlie Roses’s show on 9/6 brought my attention to Nick Lemann and Julia Reed.

And among all this sadness, here dear readers, for a bit of political humor, take this quiz. My score was: 1 on a scale of 1 to 10.

You hate Bush with a writhing passion. You think he is an idiot, a liar, and a warmonger who has been a miserable failure as president. Nothing would give you greater pleasure than seeing him run out of the White House, except maybe seeing him dragged away in handcuffs.
